Peter Pan

Role: Scenic Designer, Production Designer

Location: Broadway, National tours, and A&E Television

Description: Tom McCoy produced this lavish production starring Cathy Rigby and directed by Glenn Casale. I have worked with Glenn on many productions since 1978. This production was nominated for a TONY award for Best Revival and I received an Emmy award for the broadcast on A&E. The costumes by Shigeru Yaji were also nominated for an Emmy as was the show and the Choreography by Patti Columbo. Paul Rubin designed the flying illusions. It was built and painted by F&D Scene Changes in Calgary. Additional drops were painted by Ruth Gilmore in Seattle. The production was on Broadway in the Marriot Marquis Theatre and also the Minskoff Theatre over two successive seasons, it also played the theatre at Madison Square Garden on two more seasons. It toured for many years and Cathy logged a record 3,000 plus performances in the role. In the design chose to use most of the extant published illustrations from different versions of the book for inspiration as my concept for the design was that it was "a story book come to life." The children's book illustrator Miles Hyman and the Los Angeles illustrator Sid Bingham both helped. I am indebted to Cathy, Tom, and Glenn for this incredible opportunity that has become a career defining design. The set, props and costumes are currently available for rental.
